But the 10% markup plus 9% tax (I round up to 20% for total cost to keep me in budget) is on par with most the grocery stores around. The meat prices are where it's at.
It is what it is. Convenient, cluttery little neighborhood grocery store. It's not Publix but it makes the world a better place.

I find most of the Shur Value, Food Depots and Food Outlets to be similar to the Piggly Wiggly and old IGAs. It's my go to for meats.

Sure it's dated in its curb appeal. But the meats seem fine to me. This ain't no Publix and that's fine by me. Non food stuffs are a bit higher than Walmart. The frozen foods are seemingly left untouched (bad freezer door seals creating ice) and a bit higher priced compared to the dry goods and meats/produce.
Staff is friendly enough. Manager seemed engaged with everyone and had customer awareness.
Very expensive. Plus charging 10% on the state of Alabama Medicaid food stamps which I guess in this state they can. Would not recommend for the poor.
