Hope the owner reads this, and thinks about the 6 months of rent he's missed out on due to losing us. We are happy across the street by the way.
We went across the street and rented almost the exact same unit from another management company, and to this day my wife and I laugh our asses off every time we leave the neighborhood and drive by the still empty unit. Noone is there and I wonder why?
I am the Co- Signer for my mother and i usually call in if she needs anything and they are always quick with getting someone out to look at and fix the problem. I have a feeling the only ones who have left a review for this company are the ones that didn't get their wants handed over on a silver platter. With that being said, noone is perfect. No reason to be so ugly. These people have to work to provide for their families just as you. some of these things said are very questionable anyways. 5 STARS from this Tenant!
(Nov 2016) I found one of the staff rather rude, and not willing to even ask an owner a question for us. In my opinion, these property management agencies are obsolete. They certainly seem to not have either the home owners nor renters best interests in mind. It seems to be simply about making as much money as they can on a deal a tenant and an owner should be able to work out themselves. In today's world of information and connectivity on the internet plus the ability for anyone to be able to do background checks on anyone else, we should be able to simply cut out the middle men and conduct our own business.
To top it off they turn off the electricity with one days notice when I was trying to get a continual service contract so that the refrigeration and etc. would have no interruption in service they have extreme lack of communication both with owners and tenants
I left Tom west realty in charge of two of my rental properties in Alabama. one is was a $225,000 house located at 2004 Melba drive . The house was in military clean super excellent condition when Tom west realty took over the management of it This house was absolutely trashed by the tenant. I do not think anyone from Tom West ever checked on the property from the time they leased it until the time the person got evicted. I could not believe the destruction that was allowed to occur obviously over several several months if not years. I do not believe the property was ever entered by the management company from the time it was the leased until the time the person was evicted I would not let this company manage an out house /port-a- potty for me.
(April 2017) *Here is an update for anyone reading. My wife and I were interested in a unit on club lane. The elevator was out, and there were MANY issues with the floor, stains on ceiling, carpet not cleaned... not a 2k a month worthy condo. The question above we wanted the Tom West employee to ask about was whether the landlord would fix these issues, and if not would he maybe come down to 1800. This was back in Nov. She refused and just let us walk out without even saying she'd look into it.
We'd probably have taken that one had the landlord met us in the middle, since it was about 200 more square feet, but Tom West's employee never gave him the chance to even ponder that offer did she?
After numerous refusals of having someone meet at the property to discuss the buildimg. Sat through over a week of negotiating a price and lease for a building to move my business (that's been in business for over 3yrs) only to sit in their office and be refused on a credit app that they insisted I pay $40 for. They are crooks. Pretty much slumlords scratching at a buck.
My husband and I have been renting with Tom West since March of 2016. From the beginning, the women that work there were very short and snooty with us, especially a young girl that worked at the front at the desk with short brown hair. Her nose was so far in the air, I don't even know if she knew what earth looked like. I got the vibe of "I'm better than you". No one is better than anyone no matter how much money you make, or what you wear, or what you do for a living. We haven't really had that many issues except a few. First of all, we own a dog. A well trained amazing dog. When we saw the house at first, the carpet was terrible. There was a huge black stain on the carpet in the living room and it was coming up at the seams in some places. You could tell the carpet was cheap and old and quite frankly plain nasty. They (owners/tom west) refused to replace the carpet because we had a dog. Also, the kitchen tile was terrible and in some places of the house, you could tell needed to be replaced. Second, We called Tom West a couple months back about a bed bug infestation. When we moved in, we had noticed little bugs a few places, but in the lease agreement, it stated we were to take care of pest control, not realizing they were bed bugs. We did not have bed bugs at our apartment and had verification from the previous landlord. We never called until about a year later when we couldn't get rid of them and they refused to pay to get them removed after we had tried just about everything. Its laughable now because we are moving out and they are still going to have to pay to remove them. Also, in the moving out procedures, you have to pay to get the carpet cleaned. They want me to have that cheap, stained carpet to get professionally clean knowing they are probably going to remove it anyways. We brought our newborn into this home thinking this could be our home for a bit, and now we are moving out 7 months later because it's just what's best. Over all, I would say the company is ok, but pick them last if you have to. When I rent again, they will be last on my list of companies to go through just mainly because of customer service and not taking care of their customers the way it should be and maybe it has a lot to do with the owners of the property as well in which case they need to be realistic as well.
