They have great coffee, pancakes, and waffles but the menu is not very vegetarian friendly. All the egg/bkfast options have some type of meat incorporated in it and if you ask to get something on the menu without meat, the waiters get flabbergasted and they don't reduce the prices so you have to get the item with the meat, even if you're not going to eat it. Even McDonald's reduces prices to get something without meat.
Very busy location, but service was still good and food was brought out fairly quickly. Tasted just fine.
Please at least have one or two bkfast, lunch, dinner options that cater to vegetarians. I know it's the south and everyone eats meat but some people try to eat healthy, so please help change. It literally costs 2$ to buy a can of hummus and a wrap and you can offer a hummus wrap or something similar on the menu that vegetarians will happy pay 10-15$ for.
The dinner and the service for the dinner was very good. However, it took over 15 minutes to check out because they had people that were shopping in there along with the regular people who are eating and checking out at the same time. They had three checkout lines and all the people that were checking out from eating we're all backed up all the way into the dining room. I made a recommendation to a manager I assume for the cashiers, to have one line just for people checking out who had ate and two lines for the shoppers and I got blown off as if that was the stupidest thing she had ever heard. Needless to say, I won't be eating there for awhile.
If you have any questions, it would be best if you were to go to the location and ask them. I just invested 10 minutes of my life plus the amount of time it took to get them on the phone. Let me explain. I called the Dothan Al location to inquire about anything special that they may be doing on Thanksgiving day. A friend had told me that they, in previous years, were able to make a reservation on Thanksgiving day. This sounded nice so I thought I would inquire. The young lady who answered the phone was quite short and was not knowledgeable regarding the hours of operation. She did say that they do not accept reservations and that they would be open at 7 AM. I thanked her and ended the call. Not quite satisfied with what she said nor the way she said it, I called the restaurant again. (I had the call on speaker phone and when it ended, my Granddaughter, who had been listening said, "She must be having a bad day." ) Same young lady answered the phone. I asked to be sure. I requested to speak to the manager. I waited on hold for 5 minutes until they disconnected my call. The manager never answered. I called for an additional 5 minutes and each time the line was busy. I'm guessing that they think my call is still on hold. I finally get through and the same young lady answered. I introduced myself as the person who was left on hold and hung up on and still wants to speak to the manager. Finally, she is on line. I explained that the young lady's attitude had not been what I thought Cracker Barrel's executives would expect. I questioned the manager regarding the availability of reservations for Thanksgiving day. She confirmed that they do not accept reservations at any time, which was acceptable to me. I then asked if they would be open for their regular hours. When she confirmed that they would be, I asked what the regular hours are. I can see them on Google but sometimes listings are not accurate. She stated they open at 6 AM and that's when they would begin serving breakfast. I offered that she should inform the young lady answering the phone of their hours since she had given me the wrong information and didn't need to tell others the same time. The manager, who was not the restaurant manager but stated that she was in charge, was sarcastic with her response regarding telling the young lady about the restaurant hours. If this was not where my Mother wants to have breakfast Thanksgiving morning, I would never darken the doors of the Dothan Al restaurant again. I have never been treated like this at a Cracker Barrel. Ever. I suggest if the management or employees of this or any other business are having a bad day, please check your bad attitude and feelings at the door when you arrive at work. You can pick them back up on your way home. People come and spend hard earned money to have an enjoyable experience. Not to be treated like an angry spouse or significant other. I'm sure the upper management of the company would like your names. I have them available if need be. I'll be there tomorrow for breakfast. I hope your attitude won't be.
My family and I enjoy eating at Cracker Barrel. The prices are very reasonable and they serve breakfast all day. Our server was very friendly. Our food arrived quickly and everything was hot. We all like to browse in the gift shop after dinner.
